Dead Simple DIY
This is my clumsy quest to make life more awesome. I turn old things into different, beautiful new things. No need to spend a fortune on stylish stuff; just grab some krazy glue and an xacto knife. Having beautiful things around you can be as easy as a coat of paint and a quick tweak or two.
I’m a first rate collager, stenciler and washi-taper, a doodler, and an enthusiastic (though minimally talented) knitter. I am also really good at dropping things, spilling paint, burning my fingers, accidentally cutting myself, and a variety of other small wounds and crises. (The nickname Calamity is, sadly, well earned.) But who in the real world always gets things perfect? Let me get things wrong so you can avoid the same pitfalls, and then I’ll explain how you can do it right.
ABOUT JANET JAY
When I’m not making something, I’m a journalist and writer for places like Vice, Maxim and Make Magazine. When I’m not doing that, I’m hanging out with my dogs Kismet and Arrow, marathoning TV, playing old video games, spinning poi and occasionally trying to learn to play the Russian accordion. (Yeah, I’m cool.) If you want to read any of my journalistic pieces, check out janetjayonline.com.
